Trabajar en Londres / Working in London

1.    CV

Hay una herramienta magnifica que se llama  europass para crear el CV con una plantilla, y le dais a create CV online. Añadir absolutamente todo lo que se os ocurra que habeis hecho y si pensais trabajar en el sector de la hosteleria, no os olvideis de añadir experiencia en hoteles/restaurantes aunque os lo inventeis, valoran mucho la experiencia. Tambien se puede actualizar online.

There is a very helpful webpage which is called europass, and guides you on the steps to create it with a template. You can after it is done, update your CV online as well. Add as many things as you can, and specially add/invent your experience in hotels/restaurants in case you want to look for a job in this sector, they really take into account this experience.

2. Tarjeta SIM inglesa / English SIM . 

Hay varias compañias que están bien, yo lo que mejor he encontrado ha sido Giffgaff. Esta SIM inglesa te la mandan gratis a casa en España/Inglaterra. Yo me la pedi antes de venir a Inglaterra y cuando llegue al aeropuerto ya tenia datos y todo porque me lo habia recargado por internet con mi cuenta española. Esta genial porque encima de mandártela gratis te ponen cinco pounds gratis!! Y la tarifa q me cogi es por 10 pounds al mes tienes internet ilimitado, llamadas gratis a otros giffgaff, sms ilimitados y 250 minutos a otros moviles UK al mes!! Con Internet ilimitado puedo llamar a mi family a traves de Viber cuando quiero, y mandar mensajes por Whatsapp.

La añadis al CV en cuanto os llegue!!

Desde este link hay que registrarse, sino lo haces desde aqui no te ponen los cinco pounds gratis.

Si ya tienes dirección en London, mandatelo alli. Pero si la quieres recibir en España sigue los siguientes pasos:

·         En "First name" y "Last name" pon tu Nombre y Apellidos.

·         En "Building number" no hay que poner nada.

·         En "Postcode" hay que poner cualquier código postal inglés válido. Por ejemplo:

o   E14 1DY

o   BA2 8PA

o   E1 7LJ

o   SW2 1DU

o   W1F 7BR

·         Luego hay que pinchar en "Find Address" y en el cuadro desplegable que aparece justo debajo que pone "Select an address", hay que seleccionar la última opción: Property not listed. Da igual que código de postal, siempre te saldrá la opción de Property not listed.

·         En "Address Line 1" hay que poner lo siguiente: Nombre de la calle, número, piso y puerta.

o   IMPORTANTE: no utilizar símbolos de puntuación de ningún tipo, como por ejemplo / para la calle (C/) o º para los números (4º) ni paréntesis ni nada por el estilo, ya que sino te dará error y no te enviaran la tarjeta. Aquí te dejo un ejemplo: C/ San Francisco, 40, 4ºA => Calle San Francisco, 40, piso 4, puerta A.

o   Si por alguna razón no te cabe tu dirección completa, escríbela de tal forma que tu cartero si que la vaya a entender. Giffgaff te la va a enviar a España, indistintamente de lo que pongas aquí. Luego ya son los carteros de España quien se encargan de leer estas direcciones y llevarlas al domicilio correspondiente, por lo que asegúrate que sea una dirección entendible si quieres que te llegue!

·         En "Address line 2" hay que poner: Código postal, Pueblo y Ciudad.

o   Ejemplo: 22400, Monzon, Huesca

·         En "Town" hay que poner en mayusculas: SPAIN 

·         En "Postcode" hay que volver a poner el mismo código postal que has introducido en el punto anterior.

·         En "Email", introduce tu correo electrónico.

·         Y por ultimo, en "Mobile Number" no es necesario poner ningún numero de teléfono.

There are many English phone companies and offers, but the best thing I have found is Giffgaff. This English SIM can be ordered online and sent to your home for free (no matter if its in England or not, there is a trick to send it outside UK). I ordered it before coming in England so when I got in the airport I already had data conection which was awesome, I had charged it online from Spain with my spanish card. And, apart from getting a free delivery, the SIM has 5pounds for free as well. The offer I got costs 10 pounds and includes: unlimited Internet, free calls to another Giffgaffs, unlimited sms and 250min to UK mobiles phones. So I can call back home whenever I want via Viber and chat with them via Whatsapp.

I would suggest to add the English numer to your CV as soon as you get it.

From this link , you can order it, make sure you do it from here, otherwise you wont get the 5 pounds.

If you already have an English permanet address, send it directly there, it will take a couple of days. But if you wanna receive it outside England, make sure you follow all these steps:

• In "First name" and "Last name" just introduce that.
• In "building number" you dont need to write anything.
• In "postcode" you have to put any valid English postcode. Such as:
• E14 1DY
•  BA2 8PA
•  E1 7LJ
• SW2 1DU
• W1F 7BR
• 
  
•  Then you have to click "find address" and above it it says "select an address", you have to select the last option: "property not listed". No matter which postcode you chose, you will always find this option.

• In "Address Line 1! you have to put: Name of your street, number, floor and door number.
• IMPORTANT: dont use punctuation symbols, like  (C/) or º for number (4º) either parentheses, otherwise you will get an error and the SIM card wont be send to you. For example: C/ San Francisco, 40, 4ºA => Calle San Francisco, 40, piso 4, puerta A.
• If for any reason you dont get enough space for your address, write it in a way that the postman in your country would understand it. Your letter will be directly send to your country, no matter which your address is.
• 
  
• In "Address line 2" you have to add your real postcode, town/city and region
• Example: 22400, Monzon, Huesca

• In "Town" introduce in capital letters your country: SPAIN 

• In "Postcode" introduce the same postcode you put in the previous step.

•  In "Email", put your personal email account.

• And finally, in "Mobile Number" is not neccesary to put any number phone.

3.   Encontrar alojamiento en Londres / Finding accommodation in London

Hay un grupo en Facebook que se llama  Looking for a room in London (original), donde hay muchas ofertas. Mirar también en Spareroom y Gumtree, poned lo primero de todo un anuncio explicando vuestra situación y lo que buscais. Poned mas o menos las fechas que vais a ir, con que tipo de personas os gustaría vivir, presupuesto, etc.

There is one group in Facebook which is called  Looking for a room in London (original), where there are many updated offers. Also  Spareroom and Gumtree,  are quite useful, firstly add your ad telling your situation and what are you looking for. Explain more or less the dates you will be here for, which kind of people would you like to live with, working/studying, budget, etc.

4.   Abrir una cuenta bancaria en Londres / Opening a new UK bank account in London

Teniendo trabajo y residencia fija, muchos bancos me han puesto impedimentos a la hora de abrir una cuenta bancaria. Se puede hacer desde España antes de venir pero te piden una determinada cantidad al mes, por lo que aconsejo hacerlo desde aquí.

El único banco que no me ha puesto ningún impedimento ha sido Barclays. Lo aconsejo, aunque todavía sigo esperando mi tarjeta.

Even having a job and a permanent address in London, I got many problems in most of the banks here. You can also open your bank account from your country but they charge like 10 pounds per month for that, so I would recomend to do it from here. The only bank that I havent had any issue with is Barclays. I suggest you to go directly there, though I am still waiting for my card.

5.   Seguridad Social / NINo. National Insurance Number

Como buen trabajador del Reino Unido, necesitarás un número de la Seguridad Social.

Hay que llamar al 08456000643 para pedir cita para una entrevista.

Yo aconsejo que para aquel que tenga ya residencia fija desde España y el numero ingles, llamar con antelación desde España porque te suelen dar cita para dos semanas después y después de la cita, tardan hasta 4 semanas en mandarte el número. Pero claro, también será cara la llamada desde España imagino.


As a future worker in the UK, you will need an insurance number. For that, you have to call 08456000643 to get an appointment for an interview.
I would suggest that if anyone already has permanent address from Spain and the English SIM, you could call in advance from your country because the appointment is usually two weeks after you call, and then it can take up to 4 weeks to get the number.

6.    Transporte / Transport: Oyster

Es la forma mas barata de moverse por Londres ya sea en bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground o National Rail services. Se coje con £5 de deposito. Y tambien el viaje es mas barato si no viajas en hora punta (0630-0930 & 1600-1900).

Hay varias opciones, o bien recargarla con una cantidad X de dinero e ir gastando, o coger una tarifa weekly o monthly segun las zonas que vayas a transitar, eso ya depende de cuanto se vaya a utilizar.

Tambien se puede pedir online y te la mandan por correo (imagino que solo en UK), aqui podeis encontrar mas info :

7.    Cogete el vuelo y preparate para UK / Book your flight and get ready for the UK :)

LONDON 2012

Todo empezó el pasado Diciembre, cuando tras recibir un email del SOPP de la UC3M, decidí solicitar un par de puestos de trabajo que ofertaban para trabajar en los Juegos Olimpicos en London 2012. Nunca hubiera pensado que en Mayo, tras una entrevista con la directora de RRHH de AtoS, recibiera el correspondiente email que confirmaba que había sido seleccionada para trabajar en los Juegos Olimpicos. Afirmaba que del 6 de Junio al 10 de Septiembre desempeñaría el puesto de AVITM, Asisstant Venue IT Manager, para AtoS.

Y aquí estoy, hace dos semanas ya, instalada en la capital británica. Estoy viviendo concretamente en Liberty House en 218 St John Street, EC1V 4AT. He estado haciendo un tranining durante casi dos semanas en Canary Wharf y ahora ya estoy en RAB, Royal Artillery Barracks, donde trabajamos con el deporte de tiro.


Prometo contaros cómo han sido mis dos semanas hasta ahora, cómo es mi residencia, qué se siente al trabajar en Canary Wharf y por supuesto, cómo es RAB.

Everything started last December, after receiving an email from my university's Career Planning Service, I decided to apply for couple of interships offered to work for the Olympics in London 2012. I would have never thought that in May, following the interview I had with the Human Resources Director from AtoS, I would received an email which announced me I got an intership for London 2012 project. My position would be as an AVITM, Assistant Venue IT Manager from the 6th of June until the 10th of September.


So here I am, settled in the british capital already for two weeks. Actually, I am living in Liberty House in 218 St John Street, EC1V 4AT. I have been doing a training for almost two weeks in Canary Wharf and I am currently working in my venue RAB, Royal Artillery Barracks, where the sport played is Shooting.


I swear I will tell you how those two weeks have been so far, how my residence looks like, what is the feeling working in London's metropolis Canary Wharf and obviously, how are things in RAB.

PS: I post the first photo I took in London, when I get in my residence, I could see it through my window. The whole UK was celebrating the Diamond Jubilee, to mark 60 years of the Queen's reign.

ZEIT

Un año, una semana... ¿qué es el tiempo?

¿Y con qué facilidad pasa?

Pararse a pensar qué hice ayer, suele resultar fácil;

cuando lo hago pensando en un tiempo pasado, salta la añoranza al pensar las personas importantes que deje atrás, algunas para siempre y otras por un tiempo.

Me duele saber que el tiempo pasa, que nos depara un futuro incierto y sobretodo duele no poder para el tiempo cuando más lo necesitas.

No nos queda otra, que llenarnos la boca de hasta luegos, de hasta la vista. Pero, ¿hasta cuando?

Solo hay una respuesta, y es el tiempo lo dirá; es él el que decidirá dónde estaremos, con quién y de qué manera.

El mundo a veces se me queda pequeño.

ich vermisse dich, Salzburg

Everything started on the 16th of September.

But no, not everything, everything started on the 20th of September, the German intensive course, one of the best choices I have made in my life. It was then, when i first met some of the best people i get to know in Salzburg.

Almost 9 months since then, and words, with just words, the experience becomes extremly difficult to be described.

I am verrryy GLAD I spent this period of my life there, shared it with you guys and having enjoyed it as much as I did.

Few days ago, my watch stopped giving the time, it ran out of battery. But the thing is that I really wish this could have happened so the time stopped for a while and I could have stayed there longer.

I am very thankful for the people that helped me when I needed support, and for all the people that made and make me happier everytime I think of them.

It was simply unbelievable how much I loved this experience and how much I love you guys! I already miss you.

Really hope we'll meet again, perhaps this summer, maybe in New Year's Eve or even in 10 years as we said.

El tiempo

Y pensar,
que ya hace 3meses que estoy aquí,
lejos de lo mío, de todo lo mío.
De mi país, de mi familia, de mis amigos...en definitiva, de mi origen.

Y pensar,
que ya hace 3meses que os conozco,
que compartimos mucho.
Y seguramente no os podríais hacer una idea de cómo me alegro,
¿de qué?
de que todo esto haya pasado,
y cómo no, de haberos conocido.

Y pensar,
que no quiero que acabe el cuatrimestre,
que no quiero que algunos de vosotros os vayáis.

Y, ya por último,
pensar que,
en 4 días estoy en mi casa.
¡Qué ganas!
